Vaughan Williams:   Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Talles                                                      Mozart:   Violin Concerto No 5         Beethoven:   Symphony No 5

Pinchas Zuckerman is both conductor and soloist in this concert which is full of infectious melodies.  The concert opens with a true English masterpiece - Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis which is a special mixture of folksong and sacred music.  Mozart’s Fifth Violin Concerto, the Turkish, is full of the joys of life and the concert ends with perhaps one of the most recognisable pieces of symphonic music, Beethoven’s Symphony No 5.
