Hestercombe Gardens & Cothay
       26 - 27 June

The Castle Hotel, Taunton

Hestercombe is a most extraordinary garden comprising 300 years of garden design in one estate.  There    are 50 acres to explore: wander along the lakeside paths of the Georgian landscape Garden, admire the   views from the Victorian Terrace and see the stunning Edwardian formal garden, one of the finest examples of Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens’ famous partnership.  On our last visit everyone wanted more time there and to return one day.

We are also visiting Cothay Manor where we have a guided tour arranged.  This is a fine example of a       small medieval manor and dates back to the 14th century.  It has been lovingly restored with period   furniture.  After that you can enjoy the romantic gardens, featured in the Daily Telegraph’s ‘20 Best Gardens in Britain’, and see the moat surrounding the house.  Once a Norman fortress, The Castle is now a welcoming family  run hotel and the restaurant has had Gary Rhodes and Phil Vickery among its past chefs.

It is also conveniently situated in Taunton so you can wander out of the hotel to see the town.
