Poldark, William Morris & the Severn 18 - 20 April
Stanbrook Abbey Hotel
A touch of drama, paired with history, is never far away on this intriguing tour we have put together for you. En route to Worcestershire we stop at Chavenage House near Tetbury, filmed as home of the current TV character Poldark.
This old Cotswold manor house with a rich history is still a family home, with a humorous, entertaining and informative guided tour provided by one of the members of the family. We travel on to our hotel, the magnificent Stanbrook Abbey, with its own varied history as a monasteryand a focus on a warm welcome, beautiful bedrooms and fine food.
Those of you who enjoyed our William Morris themed trip will love Wightwick Manor (NT) which was decorated and furnished with the designs and art works of William Morris and his Arts and Crafts contemporaries such as Rosetti and Edward Burne-Jones. We visit the picturesque Georgian canal town of Stourport-on-Severn in its beautiful setting in the heart of the Severn valley, and on the last day we take a boat trip from Worcester. Here you will have an impressive view of the cathedral, passing under bridges and giving opportunities to spot kingfishers and otters. Then you will have time on land to find lunch before we head for home.
